I’m a fully qualified Science teacher and Maths tutor, with over twenty years’ experience of teaching KS3 and KS4 students. I am an approachable, friendly and engaging teacher with good results and am proud to have been told many times that “you’re the best teacher I’ve ever had”! But don’t take my word for it – have a look at the lovely things current and recent customers have said about me in my testimonials section.
During my teaching career I have taught in secondary schools in the Midlands and in Surrey, tutored vulnerable children in Science and Maths for Surrey County Council, and taught private students, principally at KS4 in preparation for Maths and Science GCSE.
I always plan my lessons to fit the individual needs of my students. I use a variety of resources including online programmes, short video clips, worksheets, textbooks and, when appropriate, I make use of practical resources.
All classes take place via Zoom due to the current pandemic.
School closures have hit students hard. The loss of teacher contact time and possible impact on results next Summer for year 10s is bound to cause some anxiety. Please contact me if your child could benefit from some additional support.
The final few months of GCSE study usually result in the 'falling into place' of certain concepts that are vital to A-level study. I offer a GCSE to A-level bridging course for students who are hoping to study Chemistry or Biology A-level.
My Science clubs for 7 to 12-year-olds have continued throughout the pandemic but online. Students do practical and paper-based activities alongside me, and I give ideas of experiments to do throughout the week. There is a firm emphasis of having fun while learning about Science.
Taking charge of all your child's educational needs can be daunting for parents, and some like to hand over some of that responsibility to someone else. Unlike many tutors, I have daytime availability and so am bound to have a slot that will suit your child's schedule.
